1 Corinthians 2 v 9 tells us Christians that our minds literally CANNOT even conceptualize how amazing heaven will be. We can think of the most extravagant place (streets paved of gold..the whole shebang) and yet it will be even better than that. We don't even have the ability to imagineheaven to the full extent of what it will be like. Wow.
And now here are two short videos that I LOVE.
You know when you wake up feeling exhausted, but you feel like you should have gotten plenty of sleep?
While you sleep, you go through sleep cycles. The first state in a sleep cycle is light sleep, followed by deep sleep then dream/REM-sleep. If you wake up while you were in deep/REM sleep... you will feel tired no matter how long you had been sleeping. In each sleep phase, your movement varies. The app Sleep Cycle uses sound analysis to identify sleep states by tracking movements in bed. Sleep Cycle uses a wake up phase (30 minutes by default) that ends at your desired alarm time. During this phase Sleep Cycle will monitor signals from your body to wake you softly, when you are in the lightest possible sleep phase. Also, it has a full 5 stars and nearly 3,000 reviews on the app store - it must work.
You know how Instagram makes everyone's life seem perfect? It is a black hole. I am constantly reminding myself that it is ‘a highlight reel’ of everyone's life- but do I REALLY believe it? Here is a candid look at my own posts: (if you are reading on mobile- scroll down to view photos)
First up: at the Little Rock game. I had an awful awful time. It was blazing hot and I had the WORST migraine. After finally getting back to the hotel, I laid in bed with searing pain at 5pm all alone while my friends went out to eat& meet up with other friends. Pretty sure I cried because I wanted my mom.
In the middle: Here we are at West Fork. See how I am the only one with a t-shirt on? Yep. I felt really fat. It was honestly dreadful, because I was ashamed of myself in front of my own friends. Ugh.
Lastly: Kanakuk. I expected to meet and become instant friends with all these girls from Arkansas. Nope. When I posted this, I was the loneliest I had felt in a long time. It seemed like everyone looked down on me, and that I wasn’t a good enough Christian. (Side note: I was having ridiculous thoughts. Thank goodness they didn’t last! I ended up meeting some of my now life long friends just days after, and I am going again this summer!)
Go through your own profile and think about your own pics. Next time you scroll through others posts, take them with a grain of salt.
