Since my time as a Zeta I have learned and grown as a person. The Creed has been a huge influence to me in many ways. Recruitment was a rough time for me and many others as I can imagine. By bid day I did not feel 100% confident and sure of the months to come. I was over joyed when I saw Zeta Tau Alpha on my card. However, I still felt unsure about where I truly belonged and if the system brought me to the right place. Over the next two months I was overcome by reassurance that Zeta is where I belong and that I am in Zeta for a reason. Every day I fall more in love with our chapter. Memorizing the creed had a huge influence on making me know I belong in Zeta. The section that hits my heart the most is, “to find satisfaction in being, rather than seeming, thus strengthening in us the higher qualities of the spirit.” I think this is true for every person on this planet. Our society is tuned so that we can make our lives and our outward appearance seem like something it is not. We can seem to be one thing and truly be something completely different and the world would never know. Many people make their lives seem perfect through social media and the perfect boyfriend/family/job/act score/body ect, but truly no life is perfect. I find it so important to be authentic in every aspect of our lives. Our society tells girls to hide their flaws and come off as if they do not have any. It is hard to find true confidence in women these days. The creed truly reflects the character of many Zeta’s. I was able to see this throughout recruitment which is something that really drew me to our chapter. I love our creed and it was truly hard to choose a section that I relate to the most because I feel as if the whole thing is fruit to my soul.
